Markthal-ruzie bereikt nieuw kookpunt

Ondernemersvereniging MHOV van de Rotterdamse Markthal heeft alle gesprekken met eigenaar Klépierre opgeschort. ‘Het overleg zit muurvast en de problemen blijven zich opstapelen’, schrijft de vereniging volgens het FD in een brief naar de winkeliers.

De ondernemers klagen onder meer over ongedierte, instortende vloeren, hitte, tocht en stankoverlast. Klépierre moet die problemen volgens hen oplossen, maar legt de verantwoordelijkheid deels bij de ondernemers. De vereniging spreekt verder van intimidatie door het management van de hal en heeft crisismanager Theo Terdu gevraagd een onafhankelijke onderzoekscommissie in te stellen.

Klépierre zegt verbaasd te zijn dat MHOV de gesprekken heeft stopgezet. “We zijn de afgelopen zes tot acht maanden op directieniveau in contact geweest met de ondernemersvereniging”, zegt een woordvoerder. Zij wil niet zeggen of de eigenaar meewerkt aan het onderzoek van Terdu, omdat Klépierre ‘gelooft in direct contact met de winkeliers en de MHOV’.

De Markthal is al vrijwel vanaf het begin onderwerp van conflict tussen de ondernemers en Klépierre. Eerdere ruzies gingen met name over de hoogte van de servicekosten en de rol van de horeca, die ten koste zou gaan van de versondernemers. Bestuurslid Mark Kolster van MHOV liet begin dit jaar nog in RetailTrends weten hoopvol gestemd te zijn over onderhandelingen met Klépierre.

De ondernemers waren sinds eind vorig jaar met Klépierre in gesprek over de servicekosten. Tegelijkertijd wordt nagedacht over een ‘Markthal 2.0’ die in 2020 gereed zou moeten zijn. Door de overheersende rol van horeca is de hal volgens Kolster zover afgedreven van zijn oorspronkelijke concept, dat het te laat is voor een terugkeer naar het startpunt. “Maar niets doen en toezien hoe de hal verprutst wordt, is geen optie.”
