Voorlopig geen bollen van IJsselsteinse oliebollenkoning

De IJsselsteinse bakkerij Aelbers, overgenomen door voormalig oliebollenkoning Jeroen Brokking, is failliet. Dat heeft de Utrechtse rechtbank vandaag onder meer op verzoek van het personeel bepaald.

Bij bakkerij Brokking, eveneens gevestigd in de IJsselsteinse Benschopperstraat, liggen de befaamde oliebollen als vanouds in de schappen. Met deze bakkerij heeft Jeroen Brokking, ondanks de naam, niets meer te maken. Dat geldt overigens ook voor Patrick Roelofs, waarmee Brokking sinds 2014 enkele jaren hoog scoorde in de AD Oliebollentest. Nu zwaait Max van der Zijden de scepter bij bakkerij Brokking. ,,In deze zaak worden als vanouds oliebollen verkocht”, verzekert Van der Zijden. ,,Het intellectueel eigendom berust bij Jeroen en Patrick, maar wij leveren nog altijd dezelfde oliebol, met dezelfde kwaliteit.”

Zijden draadje
Een goede score in de Oliebollentest is geen garantie voor zakelijk succes. Een maand geleden ging in Maarssen bakkerij Olink Failliet die in 2012 de AD-test won. Na het succes van Brokking bungelde het bedrijf anderhalf jaar geleden aan een zijden draad. Het bedrijf werd door investeerders uit surseance van betaling gered en ging met een beperkt aantal winkels verder. Roelofs nam afscheid en Jeroen Brokking kwam als manager in dienst.

Volgens bedrijfsadviseur Theo Terdu, die nauw bij de herstructurering betrokken was, heeft Brokking zonder instemming van de aandeelhouders de IJsselsteinse bakkerij Aelbers overgenomen. ,,Ik heb nog geprobeerd dat terug te draaien, maar dat bleek onmogelijk.” Brokking had de twee bakkers aan beide uiteinden van de Benschopperstraat graag samen willen hebben, zegt Van der Zijden.

De aankoop bleek een zakelijke kat in de zak. De schulden liepen volgens Terdu op. De verkoop van het filiaal aan het Makadocenter in Nieuwegein bracht maar tijdelijk soelaas. Eind oktober legde de belastingdienst beslag op de totale inventaris. De beoogde verkoop aan een Marokkaanse bakkersketen kon daardoor niet doorgaan. Terdu: ,,Jeroen heeft zich de schoenen kaal gelopen om een oplossing te vinden. Ik zeg: hij is een heel goede oliebollenbakker, maar geen goed ondernemer.”

Brokking zelf was niet bereikbaar voor een toelichting.
